Fashion Lovers and Friends

✨Welcome Fashion Lovers and Friends!

Welcome to my blog! I’m beyond excited to be here and to start this journey with you. I’ve heard incredible things about the Substack community—kind, supportive, and full of thoughtful conversations—so it already feels like a breath of fresh air. I can’t wait to dive in, share my thoughts, hear yours, and connect with you all.

As some of you may know, I’ve been immersed in the fashion industry for a long time (…sometimes I feel like a dinosaur 🦕)—working as a fashion stylist for print, a fashion editor for editorial shoots, and a columnist for various publications. Most recently, I’ve reignited my passion for photography and found myself gravitating back to styling and shooting creative projects.

The industry has changed in so many ways. When I first started styling—fresh out of school—the team would huddle around a Polaroid, anxiously waiting for a preview of the shot. Then came the test of patience: waiting days (sometimes weeks) to get the prints for our portfolios. There was no social media, no online shopping, and no ‘influencers’ dictating trends. Fashion required creativity, grit, and relentless hard work to craft something magical.

Now, everything is instant—the clothes, the images, the media platforms, the feedback. While I’m not sure the results are better, they’re certainly produced, consumed, and discarded at a much faster rate. At times, I’ve found it challenging not to feel disillusioned with this new reality, largely driven by social media. It often seems inauthentic and self-serving. Over the years, I’ve taken several social media breaks—most recently for three years—and, truthfully, I didn’t miss it. I am an artist, not a ‘content creator,’ and I’ve never been particularly tech-savvy either.

That said, fashion always calls me back. Through every industry shift and every iteration of my career, one thing has remained constant: my love of clothing and my deep appreciation for great style. There’s nothing more exhilarating than seeing someone fully aligned with their personal style—it’s contagious. The ability to elevate confidence, and even self-worth, through fashion is powerful and absolutely worth investing in.

I’m a creative at heart, and style is soul food for me. So, I’m here with the intention to spread fashion love, create beautiful images, and share stories that uplift and inspire. Dreamy + Authentic + Helpful—that’s my mantra.

As Heraclitus wisely said, “The only constant is change.” I’ve mastered the art of changing outfits—still working on keeping up with changing technology—so please be patient with me as I navigate this platform. (Yes, I still buy magazines and prefer malls over online shopping.) But the only thing to do is embrace it, keep creating, and go with the flow.

My aim is to help women feel more stylish and empowered. I am not a fashion influencer. I am a fashion inspirer. I adore clothes, shoes, shopping, malls, magazines, art, travel, and—above all—style. My hope is that by sharing my experience and insight, you feel more confident, more beautiful, and more in tune with your own fashion journey.

Love,
amyluxox
